Achievements Aims & Objectives
The MBPA has contributed to the Main Beach Community for over 40 years:
- Maintenance of Main Beach's unique village atmosphere
- Representing Resident & Trader members, in unison, through public consultation, meetings etc.
- Initiation of Friends of Federation Walk, to protect The Federation Walk Coastal Reserve.
- Petitioning protection of The Spit" no development north of Seaworld Nara or Sheraton Mirage.
- Communication & Requests for Action: Gold Coast City Council, Queensland State Government, Federal Government local area representatives.
- GCCC LAP & Town Plan Monitoring & Implementation: Commercial precinct boundary, Height restrictions, etc.
- Public Open Space/Environmental Protection: Ocean and Broadwater Boardwalk, The Spit, Macintosh
Island, Helen Hollindale Parks, Narrowneck including Envirofund Grant for rejuvenation, plantings & maintenance, Clean Up Australia Day.
- Pedestrian Safety Increased - Zebra crossings" Tedder Ave from southbound Surfers Paradise Boulevard, Main Beach Parade pedestrian lights.
- Public Safety - Community Safety Audit with Qld Police & Neighbourhood Watch, road resurfacing, signage,
car parkingiGCCC Parking Strategy awareness, liquor licensing adherence.
- Enhancing Community Spirit" Supporting renovations of the Bathing Pavilion, other synergy community groups, Increased Christmas theme (Community Christmas BBQ & street decorations), community Noticeboard in Tedder Ave.
